Ginocello was born from a moment of elegance, spontaneity, and quiet brilliance.
On New Year’s Eve 2012, while orchestrating and hosting one of the world’s most glamorous celebrations—an exclusive Miss Moneypenny’s event held at one of London’s signature boutique hotels—an idea took shape in the most unexpected way.
Amid the rhythm of the evening, the final details, and the anticipation of midnight, a simple act of curiosity unfolded behind the bar. A whole lemon was placed into a blender—bold, unmeasured, unapologetic. A delicate pour of gin followed, balanced with a touch of sugar syrup. The mixture was blended, then carefully filtered, revealing a liquid of remarkable freshness and depth.
Served first on its own, then elevated further—poured into a champagne glass and lengthened with fine soda water—the drink revealed something extraordinary. It was vibrant yet refined. Playful yet elegant. Instantly captivating.
As friends gathered to taste it, conversation turned into consensus. This was not just a drink—it was an idea worth pursuing.
The question was asked:
“Gin or Cello?”
The answer became the name.
Gin O Cello. Ginocello.
Encouraged by those closest to us, and with the wholehearted blessing of our parents, we chose to honour that moment and transform it into something lasting.
